OUR SPECIAL SEAFOOD
A Family Marisco Affair
Our lobsters are caught on evening dives by family grandsons. They learned from their grandfather, who just ceased diving at 79. The Octopus are caught on the same night dive. The Red Snapper comes from long nets placed just south of Boca by another grandson and family associates. On occasion, one of the grandsons fishes for Dorado (Mahi Mahi) on Stephanie’s Panga. Depending on the family schedule, net fishing is also done by a 71-year old full-time fisherman friend of the family. The freshness of these entrees is measured in hours, not days. Just doesn’t get any better. We are fortunate to be close to the “Shrimp Capital of the World” – Mazatlan. It’s only a short journey to Puerto Vallarta, where we purchase from fishmongers.
Stephanie’s dad, also a diver pitches in, but his Chef duties come first. Mom assists with waitress duties and baking marvelous Flan desserts. Stephanie’s daughter is an able assistant. Stephanie’s “front-of-the-house” duties manage to expand to everything from sweeping/cleaning to everything described by miscellaneous. She also grows herbs for spicing the dishes. In keeping with the restaurant penchant for freshness she carefully purchases vegetables from local growers.

OUR LOCATION
Just minutes from Puerto Vallarta
We are a home-based operation with the family kitchen next to the cabana seating and our Bar. We are across the Rio Horcones from Boca de Tomatlan. Boca is just south of Puerto Vallarta, only about a 20-minute drive from Old Town. It’s an easy walk across the bridge. Our season is from mid-November to May, when the river behaves and allows space for our seating and the weather is great for alfresco dining. There is convenient parking just before crossing the bridge. It’s a dramatic difference from Puerto Vallarta where “real Mexico” doesn’t exist. You will be in a safe family-oriented village – everyone knows everyone. Many of our guests are long-term visitors from US and Canada staying at local Villas and hotels. If you aren’t driving, we can arrange transportation from Puerto Vallarta or nearby locations.

OUR AMBIANCE
We are on the trail alongside the river that goes to homes along the Bay, and eventually to Colomitos and Las Animas beaches. Our family home, with an upgraded kitchen, is next to the Bar with our Cabana seating on the river edge. A refreshing fun décor features warm lighting for alfresco evening dining. A great spot to observe the setting sun with the river meeting the bay in the background. We are cradled by Tropical forests just behind us.
